Last month got a chance to meet David Hersh, the VP of Business Development from Multiply when they were in the country to help formally launch the site locally. I was surprised to learn that they weren't so much into pushing Multiply as the top social networking site. In fact, they don't really consider themselves a social networking site at all. Multiply is really more for sharing files with contacts rather than racking up the most number of online buds.
Anyway, learned a few interesting facts during the interview, like:
The Philippines is the country with the second largest Multiply population. In fact, we're the biggest market outside the US.
Doing commercial stuff, such as selling, trading, etc, is actually against Multiply's terms of service. They told us it's a business that's unique to the Philippines but they don't mind it so far. As long as everything is on the up and up I guess.
